June 2011 – Robert Mackey founded the Lydia Smith Sickle Cell Foundation.
December 2012 – The Lydia Smith Sickle Cell Foundation partners with the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UIH).
October 2013 – LSSCF.& UIH creates the Lydia Smith Patient Assistance Fund for Sickle Cell.
January 2014 – UIH recognizes LSSCF and the Lydia Smith Patient Assistance Fund for helping hundreds of families within the hospital.
October 2014 – LSSCF partners with
Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
March 2015 – LSSCF partners with the American Red Cross and National Kidney Foundation of Illinois to hold blood drives and screenings in the Chicagoland area.
